OpenMoko to release Wikireader

The OpenMoko group, previously known for its failed Freerunner phone project, is now trying to put Wikipedia in your pocket. The device, powered by AAA batteries, has a small screen and low power CPU and can carry a full version of Wikipedia, sans pictures, on a microSD card. The device can be updated by paying a $29 annual fee to receive a microSD via mail or users can just download the file and DIY.

Wikipedia testing method to slow malicious edits

Wikipedia has announced it will be running a trial run of a new method of editing some of its pages. The new approval process would lock edits for publish until an experienced editor has approved the edits. The site plans to roll out the feature to pages which are about individual people.
