Hulu just gained a lot of new viewers in the fall season and TiVo lost many subscribers. Coincidence? We don't think so. Find out more in the video.

Hulu adds ‘Coming Soon’ feature

Hulu added a new feature called “Coming Soon” which shows a user the upcoming posting schedule grouped by date. The Coming Soon page allows a user to add episodes to his or her queue, subscribe to shows, and receive e-mail notifications when videos become available. Users can also embed videos that have not been released yet; upon release, the embedded video will update.

Entertainment Weekly gets video ads

We reported last month that video ads were on the way to print media. Now, a limited run of this week's Entertainment Weekly will contain two embedded video ads. The print magazine will contain a 2-inch color LCD screen, with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, and will display advertisements for Pepsi Max and CBS. The rechargeable display is one tenth of an inch thick, and will be sent to Los Angeles and New York subscribers only.

Zune HD not traveling outside of the US

According to an official word from Microsoft, the rumors that have been floating around about the Zune HD not coming to France were true. Not only is the touchscreen media player not coming to that part of Europe, but it will remain US-Only. Microsoft is instead looking to expand its video presence in 18 other markets, many of which are available in the same areas as the Xbox 360.

Samsung intros Flip-style full HD camcorder with YouTube publishing

Samsung announced today the HMX-U10, a new point-and-shoot HD camcorder similar in form to the popular Flip cams. The new device, which shoots 10-megapixel stills and 1080p H.264 video, should ship in September for $200. The HMX-U10 also includes the one-button YouTube upload feature that makes the Flip so popular with consumers.

With a golden ring that acts as an on/off remote control, Thanko's Spy Button Camera is now available for those looking to capture secret footage. The kit also comes with 4 more buttons to match the camera and a USB cord to transfer up to 90 minutes of recorded video.

YouTube allows off-site links via video overlays

The popular video site now allows some members to link to non-YouTube locations via links in lower-third style overlays. Previously only offered to a select few, the "Call-to-Action Overlays" are now available to all members of YouTube's CPC Promoted Videos program at no additional charge, allowing direct access to the provider's web site.

Panasonic announces faster SDHC cards

Panasonic has announced its first "Class 10" speed SDHC memory cards, capable of 22MB/sec. The new cards are 10% faster than Class 6 cards and seem to be a match for DSLR HD-video fans. No prices have been announced, but the cards should be available in the U.K. in June.

Apple job posting suggests new iPhone features (again)

Apple is looking for engineers that are experienced with programming with ARM CPUs, according to a Macrumors report. A required knowledge of ARM processors, paired with another company posting — experience with video encoding on embedded hardware — could mean either new hardware, or new features.
