Don’t upgrade hacked Apple TVs to 3.0, CrunchGear advises

Tech website CrunchGear has advised owners of Apple TVs that run unofficial ATV plugins to refrain from upgrading their devices to firmware 3.0, saying that the "insignificant" update cripples hacked units.

BlackBerry Storm 2 unveiled

Research in Motion has unveiled the BlackBerry Storm 2, the successor to its first touchscreen device. It sports an improved SurePress touchscreen and 2GB of memory (expandable to 16GB with a microSD card) and is WiFi-capable. The Storm 2 is free with a two-year Vodafone UK contract, while Verizon Wireless has yet to announce pricing and availability for the US market.

Verizon has announced the device will be available Wednesday for $179 with a 2 year contract and a $100 mail-in rebate.

Giant eclair hints at Android 2.0

Android 2.0, the upcoming version of Google's mobile operating system, will be available in the very near future—at least, that's what the giant eclair sitting on the Googleplex's front lawn suggests. The blown-up pastry is sitting beside a doughnut and a cupcake, both codenames for previous versions of Android.

Xbox 360 dashboard update available today

Microsoft has unleashed the latest Xbox 360 dashboard update to the public. Most notable in the new release? One of our fav features is the updated Netflix app, which lets users add and remove Instant Queue titles from the Xbox, rather than requiring a trip to a web browser. There are other features too, like the ability to download full Xbox 360 games on-demand for prices that are similar to what gamers would pay in stores, and an updated avatar clothing collection.

Jitterbug not the right phone for emergencies

Samsung has recalled Jitterbug phones sold after March 1, 2008 in order to update software allowing emergency 911 calls to be made wherever there is service. Currently, the phone will not make 911 calls in areas where MVNO or roaming agreements are not established.
