Iyaz has the goods on the DeLorme Earthmate PN-60w, a full-featured handheld GPS personal navigation device with a secret. It can talk to the outside world through the included SPOT satellite communicator, allowing the user to send messages and waypoints to sites like SPOTadventures.com, Geo-caching.com, Twitter, and Facebook. As an emergency back-up, the SPOT Satellite Communicator has stand-alone capability to send location-based SOS notification to an emergency response center. Expect to see it in stores in May for $549, plus about $17 per month for the SPOT service.
