Steve Jobs authorizes biography: TechVi Now
According to the New York Times, Steve Jobs will participate in crafting a biography on himself. Also, RIM introduces a new web browser for its BlackBerry, Sony quits on OLED, and more on TechVi Now.
CES 2010: LG’s 15-inch OLED TV
Iyaz Akhtar stopped by the LG booth to track down one of the hottest TVs at CES this year, the LG OLED TV. At 15 inches, this is the largest commercially available OLED television in the world. The panel is an incredible 3mm thin, while the entire splash-resistant TV weighs just ounces. LG plans to release the OLED TV this year (although there are reports that the unit has been spotted in Korean stores already) at a cheaper price than Sony's 11-inch model. Of course, we use the term "cheaper" loosely, as the Sony TV is around $2500 retail.
CES 2010: Sling, Samsung, RIM, and AT&T
Wednesday is Press Day at CES 2010, and the TechVi team took a look at the hottest things coming up in this year's show. Randall, Iyaz, and Eric sit down and summarize some of the highlights of the day.
Sling Media
Sling announced a slew of products today. The Total Control 100 is a high-end touchscreen remote control that has a WiFi connection to download show guide information and connect to Slingboxes. The Sling Monitor is a 15" LCD complete with Sling Catcher circuitry to catch content without a separate box. And the 700U is a new auto-configuring Slingbox that can plug directly into some DVRs.
Samsung
The update to the popular Android-based Moment was announced today, and it will include a mobile digital TV tuner to display live television programming on the phone without clogging up its cellular data connection.
Research In Motion
BlackBerry-toting pitchmen around the world rejoiced at RIM's announcement of the BlackBerry Presenter, a $199 device that allows the popular smartphone to connect to any VGA or S-Video projector or display.
AT&T
Finally, the country's four largest wireless carriers have Android offerings as Dell, HTC, and Motorola all plan on making Google-powered handsets for AT&T.
FloTV standalone device unveiled: Expensive TV on the go
FloTV, a company known for delivering cable television to mobile phones, is showing off a new stand-alone portable TV device at the CTIA expo in San Diego. The unit features a 3.5-inch capacitive touchscreen, and costs $249, plus has a monthly service fee of $8.99.

Hulu partners with cable companies, wants to be one-stop-shop for all your subscriptions
Hulu is actively working to become the online portal for cable companies looking to provide value-add services to their customers, a Hulu executive mentioned in a CNBC interview. Hulu is proposing a password-protected premium portal for existing subscribers, giving them another reason to stay on as a customer.
TiVo sues AT&T and Verizon, continues to lose customers
TiVo has filed suit against AT&T and Verizon, alleging the two infringed on its patents related to time-shifting live television. As its subscription numbers continue the slide that began two and a half years ago, TiVo apparently hopes to gain some sort of licensing deal to help keep it afloat.
Time Warner to start testing TV on the internet
According to Wall Street Journal, at least seven media companies have signed up with Time Warner Cable to test-drive online delivery of television content to for its existing subscribers. Time Warner Cable has not confirmed the report, but "people [who are] familiar with the matter" have mentioned the following companies as potential guinea pigs: Syfy, TNT, AMC and BBC America, and possibly, CBS Corp, Discovery Communications and Viacom.
Microsoft unveils Zune HD TV interface, like a pocket sized media center
There has been lots of news about Microsoft's highly anticipated Zune HD this week but the "final reveal" comes in the form of a walkthrough of the device when docked to a TV courtesy of Gizmodo.
LG to release its first OLED TV
LG's mentioned that a 15-inch OLED TV which frequently makes the rounds at trade shows will actually be released this winter. While the 15-inch screen will not be huge, it'll have a 1366x768 resolution, and a million to one contrast ratio. The TV will go from concept to households in Korea first, then worldwide soon after.
Dell Mini 10 TV tuner option now shipping
Dell will begin shipping the previously announced TV tuner option for its Inspiron Mini 10 netbook today. The $50 internal device will bring in over-the-air ATSC signals via the included external antenna, allowing for HDTV viewing on the 10" screen.
