First iPhone worm rickrolls jailbreakers

The first worm to affect Apple's iPhone has been detected in Australia. The worm, which only affects jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches with SSH installed, changes the device's wallpaper to a photo of 80s singer Rick Astley with the words "ikee is never going to give you up", then tries to enter other jailbroken devices on the network.

Google Dashboard launched

In an effort to be more transparent about its collection of user data, Google today launched Google Dashboard, a service that essentially tells users what the search engine giant knows about them. Dashboard summarizes the information Google collects from users' accounts in its products such as Picasa, Orkut and YouTube, and users can adjust their privacy settings for each service directly from Dashboard.

Adobe, Barnes & Noble team up for content protection

Adobe and Barnes & Noble today announced a partnership that will allow the latter to support open ePUB and PDF e-book formats using a standardized content protection scheme developed jointly by the two companies. This comes on the heels of the unveiling of Barnes & Noble's Android-based Nook e-book reader.

Mozilla disables insecure Microsoft plugin

Mozilla has temporarily disabled Microsoft's WPF plugin for Firefox to protect users from a vulnerability that allows it to be exploited when visiting a malicious webpage with carefully coded XAML content. Although Microsoft has already pushed an update that fixes the security hole, Mozilla is keeping the plugin on its blocklist for the time being, citing the serious security risks it poses.

Windows 7 security updates now available

Microsoft released its first patch for Windows 7, in addition to 33 other patches making yesterday's 'patch Tuesday' the largest to date. This means when people turn ont their brand new Windows 7 computers, they will be greeted with an update as soon as they connect to the internet.

The updates are also required for Windows Vista, Sever 2008, XP and Server 2003.
