Flash 10 coming to Palm Pre early next year?
Would-be WebOS Flashers are being redirected to a page on Adobe's site claiming Flash should be coming to the device sometime in "the first half of 2010." Though, given Palm's track record, the first half of 2010 tends to mean June rather than anything earlier.
Pre to get expandable memory in Mexico?
A few videos have trickled out of Mexico which allegedly show a Palm Pre with a MicroSD slot. This would be the first WebOS device with expandable memory so far. The Pre will be released by Telcel in Mexico.
Palm Pixi rumored to launch this month, how much should it cost?
We've been hearing about the Palm Pixi for what seems like ages in gadget years, but the follow up to the Pre is rumored, albeit sketchily, to be hitting Sprint later this month. The device is a less expensive, slider-less version of the Pre, though it has a slower processor and less memory. Right now the Pre is $79 in some places, so what's it going to take for Palm to make the Pixi a hit? We ask PC Mag Editor-in-chief Lance Ulanoff, and Engadget's Nilay Patel.
Palm Pre free until September 30th
Gizmodo has some details about how to acquire a Palm Pre for free after working through some rebates and cash back from PhoneCashback.net. The deal ends at 5:00pm (Pacific) on September 30th, so head over if you've been waiting to grab one.
Palm Pre available in UK on October 16
A release date for the Palm Pre has officially been confirmed for UK mobile phone users. The Pre will release on the O2 network on October 16th and will be free with a 2-year contract. On a sidenote, O2 is the same UK network Apple's iPhone is offered under.
WebOS getting paid apps on the 24th
Palm Pre users and developers should be excited today as Palm has finally specified a date at which paid apps will be released. On September 24th WebOS will finally be getting paid apps and developers will get a 70% share of the price.
Palm drops Pre price to $149, scheduled to update WebOS
In addition to announcing the Pixi, which we're excited about, Palm has also dropped the Pre's price by $50, meaning it'll cost $249 in-store with a $100 mail-in rebate.
We're also hearing through less official channels, that Palm will be updating WebOS to version 1.2, adding some new features and bug fixes, including copy/paste from the browser. The update was scheduled for yesterday, but we haven't heard confirmation from anyone that it actually shipped.
Palm Pre rumored to be coming to China Telecom
The Palm Pre may soon be coming to China on China Telecom's network if recent rumors are to be believed. PCWorld is reporting that China Telecom, who is currently courting RIM's Blackberrys as well, is talking with Palm about bringing the Pre to China. China Telecom already has the iPhone exclusively and is looking for hot new smartphones to give them an edge in the race to capture the 3G market in China.
Palm’s WebOS gets a couple more apps
Palm has announced that two new apps are available for its WebOS mobile operating system. OpenTable is now available so Pre users can make reservations using their phone. Fliq Bookmarks, an app for bringing Safari bookmarks onto the Pre (Mac only at this time) is also available. While two new apps isn't impressive, there are still only a handful of apps available for the WebOS
Verizon to offer Palm Pre in 2010
We're hearing, according to CNET's Maggie Reardon, Verizon is planning to offer the Palm Pre in 2010. No details right now, but the company is said to be announcing it on an investor conference call, so expect more to leak out shortly.
UPDATE: Maggie's full story is up now, and it jibes with other information we'd previously heard. If Palm and Sprint were locked up for six months, January would be a potential date for Verizon customers to give their hand at WebOS.
