Entertainment Weekly gets video ads

We reported last month that video ads were on the way to print media. Now, a limited run of this week's Entertainment Weekly will contain two embedded video ads. The print magazine will contain a 2-inch color LCD screen, with a resolution of 320 x 240 pixels, and will display advertisements for Pepsi Max and CBS. The rechargeable display is one tenth of an inch thick, and will be sent to Los Angeles and New York subscribers only.

JVC’s new 32-inch monitor is .25-inch thick

At .25-inch thick and 12.5 pounds, the new JVC LT-32WX50 saves as much desk real estate as any high-end 32-inch monitor can be expected to save. The screen hits stores in November with a 4000:1 contrast ratio and a $3000 price tag.

Acer’s Veriton Z280G combines netbook with desktop

Acer has announced a new nettop all-in-one computer system. The Veriton Z280G features an Intel Atom processor and generous 18.5" widescreen LCD display, and implements a fanless design that should all but eliminate noise from the machine. Aimed at business use for reception areas, hotel lobbies, and employees with light-duty tasks, the Z280G will retail at $499.

Sony Walkman S and E series hit in September

Sony says two lines of Walkman players will ship next month. The S series, which features a 2.4-inch display and offers 42 hours of headphone-style battery life for music playback, and 6.5 hours of video playback, and E series Walkman, which is a bargain basement model with slightly lower battery ratings and a lower price, will have some stiff competition most notably in the Zune HD and iPod, both of which are also scheduled to ship in September.

Sony's two models, however, look to skimp on price, with the S series coming in at $110 for 8gb and $130 for 16GB, and the E series at $80 and $110 for the same capacities, well below the expected pricing for the Zune HD and iPod.
