First iPhone worm rickrolls jailbreakers

The first worm to affect Apple's iPhone has been detected in Australia. The worm, which only affects jailbroken iPhones and iPod touches with SSH installed, changes the device's wallpaper to a photo of 80s singer Rick Astley with the words "ikee is never going to give you up", then tries to enter other jailbroken devices on the network.

iPhone 3GS jailbreak released

George Hotz, better known as GeoHot, has released the first publicly available jailbreak application for the iPhone 3GS. Although it doesn't directly provide freedom from AT&T, "purplera1n" allows applications not approved by Apple to run on that company's latest handset, including the Dev-Team's ultrasn0w carrier unlock app.

Jailbreak iPhone app puts MMS on original iPhone

An application for jailbroken iPhones running 3.0 firmware, Activate MMS2G, seems to enable the use of multimedia messaging on the original iPhone. This flies in the face of previous statements from Apple which claimed that the original iPhone’s cellular radio wasn’t capable of MMS. The MMS functionality is still limited to carriers that support MMS for iPhones, which isn't AT&T.
