Apple has added hundreds of HD movies to the iTunes store. New and classic movies can be purchased in HD including Star Trek and Wall-E.
iTunes to sell new Michael Jackson album
Apple has come to an agreement with Sony to sell the upcoming Michael Jackson album This Is It on iTunes. Beginning on October 26th, one day before the double-album hits other retailers, the complete digital version will be available alongside an EP containing only the six unreleased songs.
DoubleTwist subverts iTunes, goes with Amazon instead
DoubleTwist, an iTunes replacement created by DVD Jon, now features the Amazon music store which is completely DRM-free and features. Double twist will also sync with your Blackberry, Palm Pre, PSP, and Android device along with many others. The new store is only in the Mac version currently but should be rolled out to other platforms soon.
Blackberry gets a music store
7digital has created an app for the Blackberry which allows users to purchase and download music over a data connection. The most interesting part of this particular software is its ability to update the quality of the media on the fly; if the user has a bad data connection it will download a low quality version which it will then update once it gets a faster connection. 7digital claims a 6 million song library which is all DRM free.

iPhone OS 3.1 announced, adds ringtones, improves Genius
Apple announced a software upgrade for the iPhone and iPod Touch which is available for download today for free. The upgrade brings Apple’s Genius technology to recommend apps based on those that users already have, and also improves the functionality of music recommendations.
Jobs also announced that 30,000 ringtones are available through iTunes from all 4 major labels for $1.29 each.

Apple announced a new version of iTunes at its press event today. Some of the new features in iTunes 9 include:

- More control over syncing to devices
- Genius Mix with continuous play
- App Store management
- Ability to arrange apps on your iPod touch/iPhone via iTunes
- Share songs, TV shows up to five computers
- iTunes LP: includes album art, photos, videos and liner notes
- Share music on Facebook and Twitter
