CES 2010: Buffalo Dualie
Randall chats with Jay from Buffalo Technology about the company's unique iPod/iPhone charging dock. The Dualie includes a 500GB hard drive that slips behind the charging and syncing iDevice to act as a USB-connected external storage device. When you're ready to go, grab your iPhone and the hard drive to take them with you, as the hard drive doesn't require the dock. Available now for $249, exclusively at the Apple Store.
Scrounge up cash with BuyMyTronics
It's always a big dilemma: What do I do with my old gadgets? Gadgets tend to have fairly short life cycles in the grand scheme of things, no longer than a couple of years. But rather than add another device full of harmful chemicals to the landfill, a scrappy upstart company from Denver, Colorado called BuyMyTronics.com aims to help you part with your old gadgets by buying them from you, fixing them up, and reselling them to people who still could appreciate the devices. We sat down to talk with the founder about how the site works, and how you can get some extra coin for the holiday season.
Nikon releases iPhone app
Nikon has released a free iPhone/iPod touch app with photography tips. The tips include information on adjusting the depth of field, shutter speed, ISO levels and other special settings for a DSLR camera. The app also has the last four issues of Nikon World Magazine but requires an internet connection so users will need data access, meaning with an iPod touch the app is useless, unless they're in a WiFi hotspot.
TomTom car kit for iPhone to be extremely expensive
TomTom says the new car kit for the iPhone will cost £99.99 for the hardware, while the app will be sold separately. That's right, the $99 app will not be part of the roughly $160 purchase, making the whole investment a nearly $260 experience, plus the investment for an iPhone.
Call us crazy, but we're thinking someone like Navigon is going to come along and actually give people what they want, at a price they wouldn't mind paying, instead of creating a product intended to avoid cannibalizing a current business.
Update: Apple has started carrying the TomTom cradle kit for $119.95.
Ways To Trade-In Old Gadgets For Cash

So you research, check it out in-store and discuss with friends who might already own said gadget.  For me, it was Game Boy, TurboGrafx-16, TiVo, Apple TV, a certain pocket HD camera and many, many more.  Then comes the day you realize you're done with the gadget and ready to move on - upgrade to a new model or switch to something even more cutting-edge (Super NES).  Sure, you could sell it on eBay, but in this episode of The 5, we're taking a look at ways you can cut out the middleman and trade-in your old electronics for cash or gift cards.
iPod Nano to feature pausable FM radio
Though there was a good bit of hype about the iPod Nano's new camera one of the most interesting feature is the ability to pause FM radio and tag songs for late purchase. Microsoft's Zune also features tagging on the FM radio but Apple has one-upped them with the ability to pause live radio.
