Fall games start hitting in earnest: What are we playing?
Granted, we're not the most hardcore of the bunch, but Clayton Morris from Fox News, Jonathan Strickland from HowStuffWorks, and myself share our gaming addictions as of late. We haven't dived into the latest craze, Modern Warfare 2, but know that it's big enough that we should at least know about it.
What games are you playing now-a-days? What games should you be playing? Sound off in the comments and let us know your gaming treats du-jour.
Roku HD-XR unveiled, is the cable box on the way out?
Anyone who understands the impact of the internet can see the impending wave of video streaming via the web to living rooms everywhere, but how far are we away? Previously, Roku got the ball rolling with its original "Netflix Player," which streamed WatchItNow from Netflix to any TV. Now, the company has unveiled two new players, one, the HD-XR, with a better WiFi connection, and the other, the SD, only plays back standard definition video. Are these the first shots off the bow of the cable company? We ask Joel Evans from Geek.com, and Clayton Morris of Fox News.
Nokia Booklet 3G pricing underwhelms
It's official, Nokia's first netbook, the Booklet 3G, has an official price at $299 with a two-year AT&T contract. We'd assumed the worst about this beautiful device when we heard about it first, but as with other shows, our guests are still suffering some sticker shock with the price. Clayton Morris from Fox News, and Iyaz Akhtar from Gadgetell weigh in on the announcement.
What's your take? Would you pay $299 for an underpowered netbook, or does the industrial design trump the machine's weak points? Sound off in the comments, or leave a video response on YouTube.
Zune HD launches (and our first live show!)
It's official, the Zune HD is out! But just because it's been hyped a little more than we were expecting doesn't mean it's necessarily worth the price. We talk to Clayton Morris from Fox News, and Kevin Tofel from JKOnTheRun about the new portable media player, and whether it's worth it or worthless.
Also, we're broadcasting the show Live on Ustream... check daily at 3pm EST for a new show.
Sony Readers: Are the cheaper versions worth checking out?
Yesterday we talked about the basics of the new Sony Reader line, including the $399 behemoth that has a lot of buzz. Today, we talk with Clayton Morris from Fox News, and Ross Rubin from The NPD Group about the lesser known kids, the $199 and $299 Pocket and Touch editions.
So far, I'm most impressed with Sony's embrace of open standard ebook formats like ePub, which seems like Sony's new direction. What's your take? Do you want one of these devices, or are they still too pricey? Sound off in the comments
The browser wars: Google on top?
It's funny that 10 years after Microsoft was busy monopolizing the browser space, we've seen a flurry of competition that makes even the most anti-competitive practices seem easy to overcome. Take, for instance, the recent report claiming Microsoft's IE share dropped 11% in March. Whether the data proves to be accurate or not, the more important takeaway is that people are leaving Internet Explorer in droves, whatever the percentage. Today, we talk to Clayton Morris from Fox News and Harry McCracken from Technologizer about the browser wars, and where they're headed.
