One of the categories we've been fawning over for the entire year is e-readers. Their lovely e-ink displays are so easy on the eyes that with the holidays approaching, we wanted to pick the perfect unit. Today, bookseller Barnes & Noble launched its Android-based e-book reader, the Nook. Shipping November 30th, the device follows in the footsteps of Amazon's Kindle with a $259 price point, 6-inch e-ink display, MP3 player, 2GB of storage, and 3.5mm headphone jack, but this reader is no Kindle copycat. The Nook uniquely features a 3.5-inch color touchscreen LCD below the e-ink screen, built-in WiFi (802.11b/g), microSD expansion slot, replaceable battery, 10 days of battery life, and AT&T 3G wireless connectivity.

Sony will allow you to transfer books to other devices

Sony has released a few more details about its upcoming refresh of its Reader line. Sony will be selling books through its online store in the ePub format which will allow you to transfer the e-book between devices which support the ePub format. Don't get too excited though; the e-books will still have a DRM scheme developed by Adobe.
