EchoStar to pay over $100 million to TiVo. Again.

EchoStar was ordered by the court to pay TiVo at least $103 million for failing to comply with a previous order in a proper manner. The parent company of Dish Network had to pay nearly the same amount in 2006 for infringing on TiVo's DVR patents and were supposed to disable the recording features. Instead, Echostar installed a new operating system on the devices.

TiVo to sell data to advertisers

Ironically, the company most associated with avoiding TV advertisments will be selling customer data to TV advertisers and networks on which shows are most watched, and (naturally) which advertisments are fast forwarded.
