CES 2010: XactTrax and Cocoon organizers
Anthony stopped by and talked with Randall about some of the new things coming from DMC Worldwide's companies. The XactTrax is a GPS device, roughly the size of a large mobile phone, that can be used to track all sorts of things. Instead of subscribing with a monthly fee, the user pays about a dollar each time they want to track the device over T-Mobile's GSM network. Expect to find XactTrax sometime in the coming months for around $149.
DMC also owns Cocoon Innovations, an accessory company that makes some unique organizers and bags. Anthony showed off the GRID-IT! organizing system and an upcoming camera bag.

Motorola CLIQ on T-Mobile today
The Motorola CLIQ, an Android phone featuring Motorola's custom MOTOBLUR interface, launches today on T-Mobile for $199. Motorola's MOTOBLUR integrates social networking features directly into the OS and also comes preloaded with software like QuickOffice, Facebook, Myspace, iMeem Mobile and Shazam. At $199 it is a bit higher than the Samsung Moment on Sprint but maybe the custom Android interface is worth the money.

Sidekick outage especially frustrating for deaf users
For those who depend on mobile email the way any cell phone user depends on the ability to make calls, the T-Mobile Sidekick's recent data outage left them in the dark. The server crash was particularly alarming for deaf users, whose Sidekicks are the most valuable all-in-one tool for independent everyday communication. The Sidekick has historically enjoyed a strong following among the deaf, thanks to its full QWERTY keyboard, email and texting capabilities, smooth compatibility with relay services, and a data-only option that eliminates voice minutes costs.
Microsoft recovers Sidekick data
Microsoft says it will be able to return "most, if not all data" for infuriated T-Mobile Sidekick users who lost access to any contacts, calendar entries, to-do lists or photos stored on their phones earlier this week. According to the note from T-Mobile, Microsoft is restoring data as quickly as possible.
T-Mobile comments on Sidekick outage
It's been a rough weekend for T-Mobile Sidekick users. If they were unfortunate enough to accidentally remove their battery, users could have accidently deleted all of their phone data thanks to a server crash. Now T-Mobile has responded to the debacle, saying the problem has been fixed, but all data hasn't yet been restored. What does this teach us about computing in the cloud, and how can we be more prepared? We talk to Eric Zeman of Phone Scoop and Maggie Reardon of CNET News.

They stress that Sidekick users do not reset their device or let the battery drain.
UPDATE: Sales of the Sidekick are suspended, and T-Mobile is expected to make a statement later today.
