The two progenitors of the smartphone market now see themselves in a precarious position as both iPhone and Android gain market share, while the perceived value of Windows Mobile and the Palm Pre continues to dwindle. Flash 10 coming to Palm Pre early next year?

Would-be WebOS Flashers are being redirected to a page on Adobe's site claiming Flash should be coming to the device sometime in "the first half of 2010." Though, given Palm's track record, the first half of 2010 tends to mean June rather than anything earlier.

The newest device from Palm, the Pixi, has been treated to a YouTube premier featuring the newest version of WebOS. The Pixi will be released November 15th on Sprint.

Palm's official Pixi site shows the next WebOS phone hitting in November on Sprint's network, for $99.99. Unfortunately, that price is after rebate, but the Pixi essentially equals the Pre's price at some select retailers, though the Pre's list price is $150.

GSM Palm Pre now on sale in Germany

A GSM version of the Palm Pre is now available for purchase in Germany via O2. The phone costs €481 without a contract and can also be financed by 24 monthly payments of €20.

Pre to get expandable memory in Mexico?

A few videos have trickled out of Mexico which allegedly show a Palm Pre with a MicroSD slot. This would be the first WebOS device with expandable memory so far. The Pre will be released by Telcel in Mexico.

It's been a fairly eventful day in the mobile industry. Palm kicked it off by announcing an extremely unique app store strategy, and Google and Verizon continued the fun by announcing a pair up. What's all this commotion mean for the wireless industry at large? We ask LaptopMAG writer Todd Haselton, and JKOnTheRun's Kevin Tofel.

Palm Pixi spotted in Vietnam

Palm's recently announced Pixi has shown up in some photos from Vietnam. The Pixi, a low end smart phone designed to replace the aging Centro was announced as an 8GB Pixi to be available with Sprint from Christmas. The pictures show a GSM version of the Pixi, which has 4GB of storage. This may hint that the Pixi is going to be available on GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile and also available internationally on GSM carriers.
