CES 2010: Sling, Samsung, RIM, and AT&T
Wednesday is Press Day at CES 2010, and the TechVi team took a look at the hottest things coming up in this year's show. Randall, Iyaz, and Eric sit down and summarize some of the highlights of the day.
Sling Media
Sling announced a slew of products today. The Total Control 100 is a high-end touchscreen remote control that has a WiFi connection to download show guide information and connect to Slingboxes. The Sling Monitor is a 15" LCD complete with Sling Catcher circuitry to catch content without a separate box. And the 700U is a new auto-configuring Slingbox that can plug directly into some DVRs.
Samsung
The update to the popular Android-based Moment was announced today, and it will include a mobile digital TV tuner to display live television programming on the phone without clogging up its cellular data connection.
Research In Motion
BlackBerry-toting pitchmen around the world rejoiced at RIM's announcement of the BlackBerry Presenter, a $199 device that allows the popular smartphone to connect to any VGA or S-Video projector or display.
AT&T
Finally, the country's four largest wireless carriers have Android offerings as Dell, HTC, and Motorola all plan on making Google-powered handsets for AT&T.
AT&T responds to Verizon’s ad with one of its own
AT&T raised a lawsuit against Verizon Wireless for their ads showing that AT&T has poor 3G coverage, but yesterday the court partially ruled for Verizon. AT&T has also developed its own ad going against Verizon starring Luke Wilson. Check out the video for our thoughts.

AT&T sues Verizon over commercials [UPDATE2]
AT&T is suing Verizon over the "there's a map for that" commercials because, as AT&T asserts, the commercials are misleading customers by only showing AT&T's 3G coverage as opposed to their entire 2G network. Since all of Verizon's network is 3G, the company's coverage map dwarfs that of AT&T when only looking at 3G coverage.
Update: AT&T has amended its suit to include the new Verizon holiday commercials which AT&T demands be taken off the air.
Update2: AT&T has also added a page on its site disputing Verizon's claims.
BlackBerry to announce Bold 2 on October 21 for T-Mobile and AT&T
Engadget is reporting that T-Mobile and AT&T will both announce the addition of the Blackberry Bold 2 on October 21st. The Bold 2, also known as the 9700 model, trades in the traditional trackball for a touchpad, while retaining the familiar Blackberry keyboard and buttons. Pricing and street date of the Bold 2 is still to be determined.
Dell may return to the U.S. handheld market
Dell may sell an Android-based phone in the United States later this year, an anonymous source told CrunchGear. The Wall Street Journal also reported that Dell may sell the phone in 2010 and it will appear on the AT&T network. Dell is already selling such a phone in China but hasn't had a phone in the U.S. market since discontinuing the Axium in 2007.
AT&T annouces iPhone VoIP support on its 3G network
As of yesterday, iPhone VoIP apps can now run on AT&T's 3G network. Although AT&T already supports 3G VoIP on other devices, the carrier previously allowed VoIP for iPhones only across Wi-Fi. This move opens up VoIP possibilities to a much broader share of the carrier's network area.
