Modern Warfare 2 sets sales record

Activision says it shipped 4.7 million units of the latest in the Call Of Duty series, with equals out to about $310 million in sales.

Xbox 360 Modern Warfare 2 special edition console announced

Microsoft and Activision have announced that they will be releasing a special edition Xbox 360 for the upcoming shooter, Modern Warfare 2.  The new console will come with a 250GB hard drive,  two wireless controllers, a headset, the game and a cool design.  The limited edition console ships on November 10th at a cost of $399.99.

A special edition Halo 3: ODST console has also been announced for PAL countries coming later this month which comes with one controller, a 120GB hard drive, Halo 3: ODST and access to the Halo: Reach beta.

DJ Hero “Renegade Edition” now available for pre-order

The special, "Renegade Edition" version of Activision's DJ Hero music game is now available for pre-order. Laying down $200 USD nets buyers the game, a special metallic DJ turntable (as opposed to the regular version) and a two disc album containing music by Jay-Z and Eminem. Preorders ship on October 27.

Band Hero heads to DS with drum peripheral

The next iteration of Activision's Guitar Hero franchise will be headed to the Nintendo DS, in the form of a multi-console jam game called Band Hero. Most notably, the game includes drum pads which can be affixed to the DS, and the game's producers claim the pads feel more drum-like than standard buttons.

New Guitar Hero 5 drum kits unveiled

Activision's annual installment of Guitar Hero is on the horizon, and with it two new drumkits have been announced. The first, the official Guitar Hero flavor from Activision, and the second is a premium edition from Logitech. The $229 premium edition features a steel kick pedal, and adjustable drum heads, while the standard kit is all the plastic and static drum heads you'd expect. No pricing details on the Activision kit just yet.

Sony CEO not concerned about Activision’s statements

Sony's President and CEO, Howard Stringer, dismissed Activision's threats to stop developing for the company's PlayStation 3 platform as just part of the game. "He likes to make a lot of noise," said Stringer of the game developer's CEO, Bobby Kotick. Sony's leader then responded that the company would "lose money on every PlayStation" when asked about cutting costs to develop for or to own the PS3. Doesn't sound like price cuts are coming soon, folks.

Activision threatens to pull away from PS3

Activision's CEO has openly mulled the thought of pulling out of regularly developing games on Sony's video game consoles. He claims that the high price of the Playstation 3 and the PSP systems cut into the profit margins for games, and to Activision, it's just plain cheaper to stick with the Wii and Xbox 360.

Activision has put up a new site for Tony Hawk Ride, the next in the classic skateboarding video game series, but the new game looks to utilize motion control, with what looks to be a skateboard controller.

Potential picture of turntable for Activision’s rumored DJ Hero released

Could it be that Guitar Hero maker Activision is releasing sneak peeks through Twitter of a turntable peripheral for an upcoming game called DJ Hero? Perhaps, but maybe it's a disgruntled employee who owns the Twitter name djhero or it's just a 10-year old Photoshop wizard. Regardless, rhythm gamers might want to take a peek.
