3D without the silly glasses from Hitachi and 3M

Two new technologies bring the 3D without the need for glasses. Hitachi demoed the Full Parallax 3D TV which displays 3D images in VGA resolution. The 10 inch TV uses a combination of projectors with a lens array sheet to create the effect. 3M is using a different approach by applying a film over LCDs to create 3D. Compatible LCDs must have edge LED lighting to aid in the 3D effect.

Acer announces 3D equipped Aspire notebook

Acer has revealed the Aspire 5738DG notebook with 3D viewing capabilities. It features a 15.6-inch CineCrystal HD display, Intel Core 2 Duo processor, Dolby surround sound, TriDef software and a pair of 3D polarized glasses that takes 2D content and replicates it in a 3D experience. Priced at $779.99 with Windows 7 Home Premium, the laptop will be available this week at select retailers.

Panasonic is showing off a 50-inch plasma TV which aims to bring 3D TV from the movie theater to the home theater. That's all well-and-good, but even if the company has managed to fix the persistent headaches, awkward motion and other issues that have plagued 3D in the past, does it actually add anything to the experience? We talk to John Biggs from CrunchGear and Nate Lanxon from CNET UK, who aren't totally sold on the idea either.

3D gaming rumored to be coming to Dell, HP Laptops soon

With 3D movies getting a big push from movie studios there has been lots of talk of integrating 3D technology into gaming and it looks as if Dell and HP will be getting into the game soon. Digitimes is reporting that both HP and Dell have put in orders with Taiwanese Manufacturer Winstron for notebook displays for 3D gaming and movies.

Sony says they are “bringing 3D home” in 2010

Sony has announced a big push to bring 3D into the average home in 2010.  Sony is getting ready to launch BRAVIA LCD HDTVs that support 3D in 1080p, as well as Blu-ray disks, VAIO machines, the PlayStation 3 and CyberShot cameras.  The televisions will be out in time for Christmas.

Fujifilm to release 3D dual point and shoot camera

Fujifilm's announced 3D cameras that essentially has two synchronized cameras in it, the so-called "Finepix 3D Real" line. The two cameras will be coming out by this fall, with features such as an LCD viewfinder that will display 3D images without the need for glasses. The camera can also use the two separate lenses to take multi-view shots and even two different photos at once. No pricing is announced, but Fujifilm will go over pricing as the release date in September closes in.

“Asteroids” movie expected soon

A movie based on the iconic arcade game of the late 70s is on the way. Universal has secured the movie rights to the silver screen adaptation of "Asteroids". Yes, Asteroids, the game with the triangle that shoots dots at rock outlines. (I can't wait to see the better-be-released 3D version!)

Acer 3D laptop expected in late October

Acer may be planning an October release for its laptop with a 3D display, according to Digitimes. The computer will require no external peripherals, such as funky 3D glasses, and will be able to convert 2D movies into 3D versions. Rumor has it the PC will ship with Windows 7 which lends credibility to the reported launch date.
