T-Mobile announces Sidekick data “almost certainly has been lost” [UPDATE 1]

After Engadget broke the news yesterday about a catastrophic server failure for all Sidekick users, T-Mobile is now posting on their forums that “personal information stored on your device …that is no longer on your Sidekick almost certainly has been lost.” T-Mobile will continue towards data recovery but state that success is “extremely low”. They stress that Sidekick users do not reset their device or let the battery drain.

UPDATE: Sales of the Sidekick are suspended, and T-Mobile is expected to make a statement later today.
