Zappos sells to Amazon for estimated $880 million

In a letter to employees, Zappos announced the sale of the company to Amazon for an estimated $880 million, to include $40 million in cash and restricted stocks for the employees. The letter states clearly that Zappos will remain an independent entity running as a "wholly-owned subsidiary" of Amazon.
