Google Voice, the former GrandCentral service which lets users streamline their voice calling, is headed for the smartphone, according to CNET. The new application for BlackBerry and Android will allow users to place calls using their cell phone's standard voice minutes, but will show a user's Google Voice number on a recipient's caller ID, in lieu of their standard cell phone number– an oft requested feature by Google Voice users. Traditionally, users have had separate inbound and outbound numbers, which makes the service less than 100% useful. The company tells CNET an iPhone version is also in the works, but isn't quite ready for primetime yet.
