The great pre-internet online service of the late-80's to mid-90's was one of the first mass-market services that provided email and information systems services, prior to being acquired by AOL later that decade to become a full-blown internet service provider. While as of June 30, 2009, CompuServe Classic will cease to exist, its newer version "CompuServe 2000" will still operate under AOL.
