iPhone 3GS shipments delayed in transit, OS3.0 launches today

UPS is holding shipments of the iPhone 3GS per Apple's instructions till June 19th, according to numerous twitter postings. Eager pre-orderers of the iPhone 3GS received shipment notifications a few days ago, and expected their items to arrive a bit before the Friday release date.

Also in Apple news, the iPhone's next update, version 3.0, launches today. Expect the software to be available at 1pm Eastern, if a theory posted on Engadget holds true.
