Canon announces (relatively) affordable DSLR that doubles as video recorder

As far as DSLRs go, Canon's new 500D isn't too shabby. The camera sports 15.1 megapixels, a live-view LCD, HDMI out, and can record 720p video at 30FPS, or 1080p video at 20FPS. All that for $900 including lens, or $800 for body only. DigitalCameraInfo got a hands on with it too.
