Sprint to launch Netbook trial in five markets November 1st
We don't have specifics yet, but our same tipster who came through on the launch of Sprint's unlimited mobile-to-mobile to any network plan just sent some whispers along about an upcoming netbook plan launch on November 1st. Word is, users in San Francisco, Baltimore, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Indianapolis will have the option to use Sprint's 3G network with their beloved lappies.
We're speculating that the carrier will sell computers with a contract, something Verizon's been doing for a while now. We'd love to see WiMax on the devices, but of the bunch, Baltimore is the only city which currently supports the 4G standard.
Again, no pricing or other info, but we've reached out to Sprint for comment, we'll let you know what they say back and Sprint says they're not going to comment on speculation.
[Thanks, Mr. Tipster!]
