Hashtags, used by many to denote the subject of their tweet, are now hyperlinked to search results on Twitter's web site. Although a popular feature included in many desktop and mobile client apps, the links are new to the microblogging web site and appear to be an attempt to increase the usefulness of searches. Previously, users were required to visit the search section of the site and type in the subject as with any non-hashtag search.
